Description

An exceptionally rare 18th century Bow porcelain perfume or pot pourri vase and cover with Rococo moulded handles in purple and turquoise with gilt highlights and a large frill bordered cartouche either side, one with four fancy birds in a verdant landscape feasting on red berries, the other with three exotic birds surrounded by vegetation, the central bird being a wonderful peacock complete with a crest atop its head and a draping train of tail feathers with nine "eyespots" in purple, red and blue, the lavish base separated by an undulating purple and gilt scroll and the whole vase and lid covered with blue and red clusters of sharp-edged flowers and green leaves, embellished with gilt foliate work and all on a reserve of the rarest pale yellow ground
