A very rare Worcester slop or waste bowl painted in blue with the 'Scroll Border Island' pattern of two Chinese buildings side by side on a small island, a willow tree behind them, a further island to the right with a pine tree, fence and another hut and on the reverse an even smaller island consisting of two boulders separated by a leafless tree surrounded by scrubs and shadowed water, the whole landscape scattered with groups of birds in flight and the interior well with another hut on a rocky island, the border consisting of two boldly painted scrolled designs

Excellent condition - slight bubbling on the darkest patches of blue

"Three-lined" decorator's mark to base

A glazed waster of this pattern was found on the factory site in 1969 but no finished example was found until a tea bowl and saucer was recorded and illustrated by Branyan, French and Sandon, Worcester Blue and White Porcelain, revised edition, pattern I.D.7A, p 196
